Yep, it's true - We really are geeky SEO experts based in Kent

SEO Expert Kent

As we're an SEO agency in Kent, we thought we'd run a little ranking test for the search term "SEO Expert Kent". Why? Well, if your business is based in Kent and you're not getting the website traffic you need, you might decide to look for some geeky, expert help in order to generate new leads.

That's where we can step in; if you decide to jump on the internet and do a quick Google search for "SEO expert kent", you'd expect to get results that reflect the company or individuals' ability to rank for that particular search term, right? In other words, it's a kind of 'proof is in the pudding' scenario; if you're looking for a website expert who's based locally in Kent, then they should at the least be on page one or two of your favourite search engine (most commonly Google) and preferably somewhere near the top. If they are, it would clearly demonstrate that they can deliver the goods.

So, that's the whole point of this blog post. Bear in mind it's only a brief post and not one of our other main SEO pages so we're not expecting to conquer the world with it! What we're hoping for is a respectable result somewhere on page one or two if possible; certainly enough that you'll stumble upon it, have enough interest to read it and be so impressed that this humble little post has caught your attention that you'll be inspired to pick up the phone and give us a call.

The results so far...

Updated; 10/10/2019 - After submitting this post to Google, we're currently ranking on page two for the search term "seo expert kent" and considering that this minor blog post is just us musing over rankings, we're pretty happy with the results so far. There are literally hundreds of SEO companies in Kent so flying in on page two (in the top twenty) is a respectable start in our opinion. We'll have another check back in a few weeks out of curiosity, just to see what happens.

Updated; 30/07/2020 - The good news that we were hoping for arrived and, with a bit of content optimization and some TLC behind-the-scenes work, we've easily cracked the much sought after page one result we were hoping for. Hopefully, this demonstrates to the reader that these things don't happen overnight - Tenacity, an expert eye and, of course, hard work are also what's required to drive websites further up the search engine results pages.

What is SEO anyway?

Sure, there's no shortage of guys and gals in the Kent area that call themselves SEO experts, but what on earth does it even mean? If you didn't know already, SEO is an acronym for search engine optimization. As the information in the link suggests:

"Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of increasing the quality and quantity of website traffic by increasing the visibility of a website or a web page to users of a web search engine. SEO refers to the improvement of unpaid results (known as "natural" or "organic" results) and excludes direct traffic/visitors and the purchase of paid placement."

We think that sums it up quite nicely. In short, for you, it would be the mysterious art of us getting your Kent website to feature at or near the top of the organic (free/non-paid) search results. If we do that, we can tentatively consider ourselves experts and give ourselves a big pat on the back.

OK, so what's an expert?

If you were about to have brain surgery, you'd sure as heck ONLY want an expert with good experience delving into your 'grey matter'; certainly not someone that's only read about brain surgery in a textbook last week. Although we'll accept that this is a somewhat tenuous comparison, if you want the person who's tinkering with your website to do a good job and improve it rather than breaking it, you'd still want to see some sort of evidence that the person doing so was an expert in their field. As far as the actual definition of what an expert is, we like the Cambridge Dictionary's succinct definition of what an expert actually is, namely:

"a person with a high level of knowledge or skill relating to a particular subject or activity"

With this in mind, we think our results speak for themselves - you found our 'SEO expert' post after all didn't you? If you want further evidence that we can deliver the goods, hop on over to our case studies page, have a gander and decide for yourself.

How about an agency - What's that?

Of course, there are a myriad of different agencies out there within a plethora of business sectors. Obviously, there are no shortages of government agencies too so let's take a look at the broad definition of what an agency is. According to Merriam Webster, the first known use of the word occurred in 1640 and it's speculated that it comes from the medieval Latin 'agentia'. The modern-day primary definition is somewhat less interesting and is

"the office or function of an agent or the relationship between a principal and that person's agent"

As you'd expect, our good friends over at Wiki have more detailed descriptions for an agency, covering pretty much every definition you can think of. One of the more curious ones that many people may not have come across is the phrase sense of agency which if you were hitherto unaware of, is

the subjective awareness of initiating, executing, and controlling one's own volitional actions in the world. It is the pre-reflective awareness or implicit sense that it is I who is executing bodily movement(s) or thinking thoughts. In non-pathological experience, the SA is tightly integrated with one's "sense of ownership" (SO), which is the pre-reflective awareness or implicit sense that one is the owner of an action, movement or thought. If someone else were to move your arm (while you remained passive) you would certainly have sensed that it were your arm that moved and thus a sense of ownership (SO) for that movement. However, you would not have felt that you were the author of the movement; you would not have a sense of agency (SA).

Pretty heavy stuff huh? The page delves even deeper , covering a variety of topics including a lot more details of the neuroscience aspect of it. That's waaay too complicated for us on this page, but perhaps an interesting blog for the future.

Yes, we really are in Kent

No, we're not trying to fake the results. We're not in Scotland, Wales or Manchester (although, of course, we can help businesses in Scotland, Wales, Manchester and anywhere else in the world in fact), we are indeed based in North West Kent, just outside Dartford... which dovetails nicely into our final remark in this post that, if you want to hire a Kent-based SEO expert and you've found this post, it'd be crazy not to get in touch with us for a free website SEO consultation.

Oh, and by the way (in case you were wondering), we also watch an awful lot of Star Trek... What more geeky proof could you possibly need! :)
